Arthur's expression switched from quite content to mildly confused. At the child's sudden fears, he sighed.
"We're in Hogwarts. And no one will get you here. Hogwarts is a safe place."
He held the child closer, as though to confirm his statement. There was something oddly soothing about having such a small, fragile child in his arms, beheld amongst his responsibility and his care.
A hand moved gently to rub at the child's back in an effort to help calm him, and his grip even moved into gentle cradles. His head tilted down, almost resting his head against Matthew's.
"And I'll protect you."

Matthew cuddled closer. He liked this man, he listened to his fears. His mother often was confused by his fears and how quickly they came on. The blond hair boy cuddled closer to the mans chest, his eyes closing.
Something inside him knew if the man promised to protect him he would. He knew the green eyed man with the funny accent was strong, he could feel it in the way the arms held him, but he was gentle too. No monster would get him.
"Okay Awthaw." he muttered quietly, and despite the sugary treats in his stomach he felt himself grow sleepy. "Just watch out for the Tentawels."
He could hear the others heart beat, and he concentrated on that, his breathing slowing and the grip on the mans front loosening. He made little upset noises, trying to fight the calming effects of the position he was in.

"Friends. I had well...I had a handful of friends. Probably not as many as you did, though." Kiku smiled. Alfred was adorable! By the name of Edgar Allan Poe and Shakespeare, Emily Brontë and Nathaniel Hawthorne. He added in his mind, to his spoken words.
The other child didn't need to know about his lack of socialization. And Alfred was a kid. Kiku needed to TRY to at least not be unsociable to the iconic age group of socialization...for most.
"I wasn't very athletic or had stamina to do sports for a long measure of time back then, so I would mostly be in the Library or somewhere with nice shade telling stories to each other and making up stories with my friends at school.... I thought it was fun...I had a good time." He smiled, looking around, gesturing at the thousands and thousands of books around him with his eyes. "And I like reading, so books kept me company. I wish I was good at flying though, I'm not the best at balancing." Kiku shrugged his shoulders.
He then glanced at Matthew and Arthur, hearing from the Headmaster that they were in Hogwarts. He paused, waiting to see what would happen, and how the two kids would take it.

Al frowned. "I only have two right now," he mumbled when Kiku said that Al likely had more. However, the next instant he caught Arthur saying that they were in Hogwarts.
"Hogwarts? Really? Wow...." Awe filled his voice as he turned around again, taking in every inch of the library he could see. That's when he noticed Mattie cuddling into Arthur and closing his eyes.
"Mr. Arthur? Mattie looks sleepy." Al said it in hushed tones, not wanting to wake up the sleeping boy. "And you must be a teacher... I'll watch over him, if you two need to go teach..."

Arthur didn't pay attention to the boy for a few, blessed moments. He was too busy gazing down at Matthew in such an adoring fashion, smiling almost blissfully to himself as he cradled the child gently.
It took a few moments for him to glance up, his eyes shifting as though he realised he was being caught in something that he wasn't usually caught doing. His motions stayed the same however, and after a moment, he glanced towards Kiku. He spoke in a hushed tone, to as soothe the child if anything.
"... I think I'm fine. I'm not actually teaching and neither is Mr Honda.." The male did pause for a moment. Could he really find the time to clear for two days of constant supervision?
.. Well, maybe. But they didn't have somewhere to put them to sleep, for now.

"He does look tired.." Kiku agreed with Alfred, just loud enough for the child to hear him. "If anything, they can use my bed for tonight." He suggested to the Brit, before looking at Alfred and adding rather strongly. "How very kind of you to bring yourself forward to look over him though. Thank you, Alfred."
He could spend the night reading and falling asleep on his desk. It would cause minor back pains in the morning and stiff joints, but Kiku was used to falling asleep with his face buried into the spine of a book anyway.

Matt struggled to stay awake.
"'m not sleepy." he whined, his face burrowing further into the others chest.

Al blinked, looking between the most definitely sleepy Matthew and Kiku. "But Mr. kiku, that doesn't make much sense. My dad went here, told me that it's a magic school, right? And that there's these little elves that really like helping out here because we helped protect them. So can't you just ask them to bring up a new bed for us?" Al tilted his head, then turned to look up at Mattie.
"If you aren't sleepy, a bed would be a nice place for us to sit while I tell you stories." It was a trick his father used to use, back when Al tried to stay up too long. Reading Al stories on the bed always put the little American straight out, no matter how exciting they were.

Arthur just shook his head, unable but to play a small smirk.
"... Kiku, I could transfigure one for you. You don't need to give up your bed."
He gave a small blink and glanced down at the small child. Admittedly, he couldn't help but smile just shyly. At the mention of stories, the smirk slightly returned. Oh, the stories he could tell compared to a child of that age.
He motioned towards the Librarian.
"Kind of you to use your living quarters, though."
He turned towards the small door behind the desk, gently so as not to move the infant too much.

Matt cuddled closer and looked down at all, grumpily nodding his assent.
"But 'm not sleepy." he muttered just to make sure they all knew.

"............right, Transfiguration;;" Kiku slinked back, embarrassed that he had shown how much he had strayed away from the wizarding world in his own private life. He thought he had most of it covered so they wouldn't notice, not that he was ashamed of his 'muggle' life. In confusion, he had returned to his old way of living and thinking. The horror.
Japan was already technologically advanced in their mechanics to be able to live just as 'carefree' as the wizards with their magic. He was rather proud of that.
Something felt weird though, when the Headmaster had spoken. Like something got to him. What was it. Kiku couldn't quite recall, and after some thinking pushed the thought aside to think about it later. "Transfigurating a bed sounds swell, Headmaster."

Al paused and said, "Thank you mister Kiku," before following after Arthur. He HAD promised to watch Mattie, even if Arthur said that it wasn't needed. Besides, if Arthur told them a story... Al wanted to hear it. The eight-year-old closed the door behind him as he slipped into the small private quarters and looked around with curiosity.

Arthur soon led into the small quarters. He didn't bother to look around too much at the room itself - just more around for space, if anything. After he came across a snug corner of the room did he shift his grasp on Matthew to reach inside his robes for his wand - and flicking out with a few graceful moves and a small murmer under his breath - a nearby bookshelf was transformed into a soft bed.
The male looked slightly apologisingly towards the Librarian himself for having turned one of his books like that without his permission, before he took a few strides forward and sat himself on the bed, allowing Matthew to now rest in his lap if he wished. He motioned towards Alfred.
"Right. Night-time?" He looked down at Matthew hopefully, already sensing the reaction he was going to recieve.

Matthew gave a small grunt at the movement, protesting the movement away from the others chest. He clung, ignoring the reasons for the movement. When the other settled down the blond haired boy cuddled back into him.
"right night-time?'
Matt shook his head and pouted. He crossed his arms on his chest and looked away, purple eyes focusing on the wall. "Not Sleepy!"

Al quickly moved to the new bed. "Can you tell us a story Arthur? PLEEEEAASE?" Al looked up at him brilliantly, completely psyched to here anothing this wizard had to say. "A real one, if you can!"

Arthur rolled his eyes, before falling into thought for a moment. He used to like sitting down and telling the fairies and creatures he came across sometimes when he used to go into the forest. They'd all sit around in a cricle in front of him, their dainty legs crossed and wings fluttering softly, occcasionally, as they all listened to what this wizard had to say.
A smile graced his lips.
"Well," he started, shifting up the small boy into a comfortable sitting position on his lap, "Once upon a time, there were two people. One of them was this amazing flyer - better than all the rest, loved by everyone - and another was the most amazing charms wizard of them all, and could turn invisible without even casting a spell. They both knew each other and were the best of friends, all the way through school.
Then one day, something sad happened. The Charms wizard fell in love, but the person who he fell in love with was a very mean wizard. And one day he cast a curse on the poor wizard, so that he couldn't feel and be close to the other people he loved. "
He started rubbing comfortingly on Matthew's back. Almost subconcsiously. Almost meaningfully.
"But the flying wizard knew this and wanted to help his dear friend. He wanted to make him happy again so he set off on a long adventure to help his friend - fighting, risking his own life - " Arthur glanced at Alfred "Before finally seeking the help of an old friend.
Now this friend, while wise, knew that he could not do much. So he turned the charms wizard into the most magical creature of them all - beautiful white and grey fur, strong purple eyes and strong legs. With this, the wizard could feel again. But only as this grand creature...
He needed to be able to be happy while human."

Matt blinked. This wasn't a story he knew very well. He cuddled deeper into the older wizard and thought about it trying to ignore the watering eyes. The still air in the room around him was dusty and it was making his eyes itch. He buried his face in the others chest and wiped away the tears.
"Why couldn't he just break the curse Awthaw?" he asked looking up at him. "If he is strong why doesn't he just make it go away?" he asked "O-Or stay as the creature and help them?"

Al lay down on the bed, getting comfortable and looking up at the ceiling as he listened. He never heard this one before, but it was achingly familiar. His mind supplied details that the older wizard hadn't. The flier player Quidditch. He visited the Charm master often, until the day he discovered his friend's curse, and then he had to wait - a year of separation until they could speak again.
But the Charm master was scared to reach out, even after he became a wolf. He thought his friend, the Flier was better off without him...
Mattie's questions changed the direction of his murky, familiar thoughts. "He might have been strong, but a curse that could keep someone from feeling love would need to be so strong that only Merlin could break it on his own." Al's voice was dreamy and drifting, he clearly didn't realize he spoke.

Arthur's eyes softened as he looked down on the young one, tilting his head so that deep purple met emerald green. A thumb reached out and brushed away the tears, before he looked at the two of them. He shook his head.
"Magic is a powerful thing. People can do all sorts of things with it. They can create things, they can destroy things. They can even control people and things with it. But there was a great wizard. And there was a great war, once. And the only reason that they beat the dark wizard in this great war was because of once thing;
He believed in love."
It wasn't something that was mentioned very often nowadays, but Arthur had learnt by it. He'd experienced it.
"No matter how powerful magic can be, nothing can stop you from feeling love. The only person who can..."
He tapped Matthew's chest, rght where his heart was.
"Is You."

Matthew shivered. Something was swimming in his subconscious, something making him tremble with fear. What was the other talking about? Believing in love, how can someone not believe in love? Then a thought struck him. "W-why would you wanna be in love if you are hurting? Isn't it better to not hurt yourself and live than die loving? " He looked over at the other boy then back at the other, not sure what he was saying but needing to say it none the less. "What about the people who would try to help him, what if the Evil wizard came after them? Its better he just vanish isn't it?" He seems not panicked but worried. "I-Isn't it just as bad to hurt people by being there than to hurt them by raising a wand?"
