"Ah..." Ludwig breathed in the soothing scent of grass and flowers as the breeze brushed stray hairs across his face. Yes, this was one of the things he loved most about Hogwarts: the peace. Sure, the students (and teachers) could get rowdy, the work could get difficult, and Divination was a pain, but once he stepped out onto the grounds, none of it mattered. He could just bask in the peace and quiet and solitude.
Ludwig couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the grounds, though this was the sixth year he'd known them...

Who was the best in the school at shattering peace? Gilbert, of course, resident Transfigurations Professor and one of the many teachers who oft acted like the kid he had once dashed through the school corridors as. Although for once, he wasn't disrupting the peace right away - in fact, the albino was nowhere in sight, although he was most definitely present. He'd stepped out into the grounds for a spot of wandering and thinking, spotted Ludwig on the grass and decided, as usual, to play around a bit. A spell had whispered across his grinning lips and within seconds the albino had disappeared.
The little cobra that slithered its way through the grasses toward the boy appeared to have come from nowhere, its red eyes glinting softly in the sunlight as it neared him. It gave a little hiss as it emerged from the threads of greenery, attempted to wind itself around the boy's leg and climb to a better position. Tiny tongue flicking to 'smell' Ludwig, the snake kept up its attempts to climb up him, as if hating the ground, or just rather liking the look of the human it'd found.

Ludwig gasped in surprise as he felt something touch his leg. Looking down quickly, he entered panic-mode almost immediately when he saw the cobra attempting to climb his leg. Normally, Ludwig was not one to panic, but certain situations demanded it. And this was one of them.
But he still had his wits about him, so he pulled out his wand and pointed it at the snake, ready to use any spell he thought would get rid of the thing. But before he could, he began to think. This was very atypical snake behavior. In fact, this species was more reclusive, did not attack humans unless provoked, and certainly would not try to crawl up said human's leg.
A glance at the mischevous red eyes confirmed his suspicion. "Good afternoon, Professor Beilschmidt," he said, tucking his wand back into his robes.

((ooc: agh, sorry my reply took so long! ;^; and excuse any spelling mistakes/crapness; I've not slept in like a day or something asfgks))
The snake paused for a second when the wand was directed at it, forked tongue tasting the air and detecting hints of magic; was he really going to use a spell? That...wouldn't be good, for sure. For one thing, it'd probably hurt. A lot. For another, how would he explain such a situation to Arthur if he asked why he was covered in bandages? Gilbert wasn't quite sure 'oh, yeah, I turned myself into a snake and tried to crawl up Lud's leg, so he freaked and blasted me across the grounds' would go down too well...or turn out great, for him.
But then the Slytherin was returning his wand to its place in his robes, and the albino relaxed. He hissed softly up at Ludwig, before abruptly expanding, returning to his regular form with little trouble at all. "'Afternoon, Lud~. How'd you know it was me?"

((OOC - Oh, come on! I just wrote a great reply...and my Internet chose that moment to lose connectivity!))
Ludwig allowed himself a small smile of relief at Professor Beilschmidt's transformation. Although he'd eventually figured out that the "snake" was truly his Transfigurations Professor, the whole incident had still given him a scare...and the beginnings of a heart attack. Maybe that was the professor's plan all along... Ludwig did not want to think a professor was capable of such a thing, but it was Professor Beilschmdit, after all. The man was known for his rambunctiousness and tomfoolery.
"With respect, Professor, perhaps reasearch prior to self-transfiguration would be prudent," Ludwig replied politely. He didn't mean to sound arrogant; he was merely stating the facts. "That particular species is more reclusive. But, still, you did give me quite a shock. I very nearly put you in the hospital."

((ooc: Ffff ;A; I hate when that happens. My internet sucks as well so it does that a lot. Ugh. Also excuse the late again adgkskf I'll be replying faster now, promise.))
Gilbert grinned. He'd just been playing but scaring people was fun too, for sure~! Besides, he'd turned himself into a snake, so...maybe he unconsciously wanted to induce a heart attack in someone or something. Either way, he just kept grinning, and shrugged his shoulders, hands finding their places in the pockets of swirling robes. He shouldn't have expected to be able to frighten Ludwig, though, despite how awesome he was! Ludwig was just so...well. He seemed relaxed to the albino.
Aaah, he was so smart as well! Most people wouldn't think of something like that until hours later, if at all, right? Gilbert gave a little pout. "What about a basilisk, then?" he queried, tilting his head slightly. "Kese~. That'd scare the kids, right? I'll make sure not to really turn them to stone, though..."

((ooc - Don't worry; I took almost embarrassingly long. I'm sorry about that - real life took over for a while, but my replies will be coming faster, now.)) ------------------------------------
Try as he might, Ludwig couldn't help allowing the corners of his lips to tilt up ever-so-slightly at the professor's suggestion. It wasn't that he found the idea funny or thought it was a good one; it was simply that Gilbert's grin was contagious. Sure, the professor could be rambunctious, mischievous, and hard to handle, (and why one earth was he trying to monitor his professor, anyway? That wasn't his job...) but it was that same fun-loving spirit that had endeared him to everyone at Hogwarts, teachers and students alike. If not for that, he was sure Headmaster Kirkland would have kicked him out long ago...
"Well..." Ludwig decided he might as well play along. After all, the Headmaster would never allow such a thing. "It's true that the basilisk is distinctly more aggressive, and I have no doubt that you would be careful (or your version of careful, at the very least), but... All the same, I doubt the parents - not to mention Headmaster Kirkland - would take kindly to allegations of a 'basilisk' slithering about the school."
