On the front of the door to the Transfigurations classroom is a long piece of parchment, scribbled all over in silver ink in the same elegant yet scratchy script as the homework board. It looks as if the Professor wants to make sure everyone reads this notice before entering his classroom, every time. It reads -
&Required textbooks:
∝| A Beginners Guide to Transfiguration {First and Second Years}
∝| Intermediate Transfiguration {Third to Fifth Years}
∝| Guide to Advanced Transfiguration {Sixth and Seventh Years}
&Required equipment:
∝| Wand
∝| Quills and Ink
∝| Parchment
∝| Occasional other miscellaneous items
∝| Ϝirst:[/center]
∝| First Year exam consists of Transfiguring a mouse into a snuffbox. Marks will be awarded for how intricate/detailed the snuffbox is, but will be deducted if it still has whiskers or other traits, such as a tail.
∝| Second Year exam consists of Transfiguring a beetle into a button, and two white rabbits into a pair of bunny slippers. Marks awarded for how well-made each item is, and deducted if they still show traits of their animal form.
∝| Third year exam consists of Transfiguring a teapot into a tortoise, which is one of the spells taught in this year. Marks for how well-transformed the tortoise is - if the spell is not performed correctly the tortoise may breathe steam, have spouts where its tail should be, or have the teapot's willow-pattern on its shell. All of these and other weird traits will cause marks to be deducted.
∝| Fourth Year exam consists of Transfiguring a hedgehog into a pincushion. If the spell is not cast correctly it may run away when you attempt to put a pin in it, or still bear features of its animal form. All of these and other weird traits which may crop up will cause marks to be deducted. There is also a test using the Evanesco spell; causing a fully-set table to vanish. Marks will be deducted for how much of the cutlery and such is still left on the vanished table.
∝| Fifth Year exams are the O.W.L.s themselves, and will involve many written essays on various subjects to do with Transfiguration and two practical Transfiguration exams; one is Transfiguring desks into pigs, and marks will be awarded according to how nice the desk is, and deducted if it has a tail or squeals. The second exam will be using the spell Piertotum Locomotor to animate one of the suits of armour or other such objects. Marks will be awarded depending on how well the suit of armour follows the caster's orders through a simple series of tasks, and deducted each time it refuses or fails to follow orders.
∝| Sixth Year exam will include the Flagrate spell; students must conjure a burning, fiery rope in the air and shape it into what I ask for. Marks awarded for how close to said object they manage to get it, but are deducted for sloppy shapes and failure to resemble the object at all.
∝| N.E.W.T.s are at the very end of the final year at the school and, for Transfigurations, are almost completely practical in nature. Students must complete a series of Self-Transfigurations and spells, with marks awarded for each successful attempt, and deducted for any failures.
There is, also, because I think it's awesome, a mock-duel of sorts for those wishing to become Aurors or enter into other Ministry-related jobs, although it's optional. Students who want to work as Aurors or the previously mentioned Ministry-related jobs would be extremely wise to take this oppertunity to duel the awesome me. Of course, it centres more on fighting with Self-Transfiguration and other such techniques studied in this class, although spells learned in other classes are, of course, welcome. Further rules will be mentioned in class by myself, or just before the mock-duel, should you wish to take it. Those who pass their N.E.W.T.s with an Outstanding get a free hug from me?

∝| Fourth Year exam consists of Transfiguring a hedgehog into a pincushion. If the spell is not cast correctly it may run away when you attempt to put a pin in it, or still bear features of its animal form. All of these and other weird traits which may crop up will cause marks to be deducted. There is also a test using the Evanesco spell; causing a fully-set table to vanish. Marks will be deducted for how much of the cutlery and such is still left on the vanished table.
∝| Ϝifth:
- Going into more detail on Animagi, and studying them more formally, with essays and such set on the topic. Subjects discussed will include the differences between an Animagus, a Metamorphamagus, and someone using Self-Transfiguration, and what sets an Animagus apart from the other two.
- Further practice at Conjuration.
- More Animate to Inanimate, Inanimate to Animate and Cross-Species Transfiguration.
- Final preparation for O.W.L.s.
- Lessons focused on Self-Transfiguration begin, first with written work and theory before moving onto more practical things. Basic Self-Transfiguration at first, though.
- Transfiguring animals into more deadly objects which could be used in a battle, such as knives.
∝| Sixth Year exam will include the Flagrate spell; students must conjure a burning, fiery rope in the air and shape it into what I ask for. Marks awarded for how close to said object they manage to get it, but are deducted for sloppy shapes and failure to resemble the object at all.
∝| کeventh:

- More practical and difficult Self-Transfigurations.
- Practicing of Conjuring, Animate to Inanimate and Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration, mostly things from previous years.
- Discussing the origins of Serpensortia, and how often magic is used in front of Muggles without their noticing.
∝| N.E.W.T.s are at the very end of the final year at the school and, for Transfigurations, are almost completely practical in nature. Students must complete a series of Self-Transfigurations and spells, with marks awarded for each successful attempt, and deducted for any failures.
