[OOC: Ivan and Raivis only]
It had been a long and tiring day, full of homework, being jostled by upperclassmen, and walking from lesson to lesson.
When he didn't fancy the warm comfort of the Hufflepuff common room, Raivis would come to relax here in the library. Reading whatever he wanted, epic chronicles of wizarding triumphs, exciting graphic novels of fictional Quidditch teams, even re-reading some of the muggle romance novels he'd brought to Hogwarts with him.
Nothing mattered while he was reading, where his imagination would take over. He could even imagine himself interacting with the characters, but in this fantasy, he had no stutter, he was taller, and could stand up for himself.
Little legs swung from the seat of the chair he was perched on, currently reading a fairly old spell-book, that contained a witch's diary from the medieval times. She clearly had a love for magical experimentation, but Raivis was disappointed to see that it ended so abruptly. Clearly she'd lost the book or been lost to the witch hunts.
He got up from his seat, noticing the time. It was around 7 o'clock, and that meant he could stay here for a little while longer before retiring to bed. Raivis found another book, putting the historical text away in its proper place.
However, upon returning to his seat with a new book, he found a new person was sat across from him on his table, looking around. He had ash-blonde hair, deep violet eyes, and was wearing Slytherin colours, which made Raivis flinch, before getting back to his table and getting back to reading.

Ivan walked along the aisles, feeling a little lost. He wsn't sure where he was... He'd decided he must have wandered into the library, because of all the books around him. But how did he get out of here? He eventually came to some chairs and sat down gratefully. He leant back in the chair and buried his nose in his green-and-grey-striped Slytherin scarf (which wasn't nearly as warm or long as his favourite scarf.)
A minute later, a small boy with light hair and a yellow and black tie. He seemed to flinch when he saw Ivan, but the Russian wasn't sure. He must have been mistaken; they had never met before, right? Ivan watched the Hufflepuff boy curiously for a few moments, looking him up and down, before leaning forward and giving him a large smile.
"Privyet~ Who are you being? You are looking nice, da~ What are you reading?" he asked in what he hoped was a friendly way. This boy looked so vulnerable... He did not want to break him.

He had spoken to him. Raivis flinched again, almost like a house-elf. Surely this was some prank set up by the Slytherins to bully him? He took a deep breath and decided to be friendly, and started to use his tactic of alleviating his stutter - quietly tapping out each syllable on his thigh.
"M-my name is Raivis, sir."
I bet you already knew that. He said in his mind, looking around clandestinely for any other sniggering Slytherins in the background.
"Um, i-i-it's... a b-book about famous witches." He sighed. He let a silence follow, then put his eyes down to the book, focusing on that only.

"Ah~ Does it use many of the complicated words, or could I be reading it? I am not speaking the English well, you are seeing," he explained with a small, embarrassed smile. He reached out and touched the Hufflepuff tie briefly. "The Hufflepuff colours are being so much nicer than the Slytherin ones... I almost was being put in Hufflepuff, you are knowing?"

"I s-s-s-suppose you could. It's for ch-children."
Well, at least he wasn't so bad. The way he touched the tie and the way he spoke was almost kind. Weird for a Slytherin, if going by their stereotype.
When the heavily-accented stranger claimed he had almost been in Hufflepuff, Raivis nodded meekly. "I-I-I was almost puh...put in Slytherin." He winced lightly, then shook his head.

Ivan giggled. "We are being like opposites, da? Ahh, you are being so cute!" He ruffled the boy's hair and reached out for the book. "I am wanting to read it now."

Raivis pushed it away, slightly miffed that he'd lost his reading book.
"I'll go t-t-to get another..." He said, trying to get up, but finding the allure of mystery around the Slytherin a little too curious for his own good.

"Ах, нет, не оставляй меня!" Ivan said suddenly, looking at the boy with a brief flash of panic in his eyes. Then he remembered himself. "I-I am meaning... I am liking your company, do not be going..."

"Oh..." He understood the Russian perfectly.
Okay, so Ivan was acting a little bit weird. But wasn't that to be expected? Slytherin did have its fair share of eccentric witches and wizards, after all.
He planted himself back in his chair. "Okay, um, I-I-I'll s-s-s-stay..."

Ivan breathed a sigh of relief, and reached out to take the boy's hand. He relaxed a little at the contact. This boy was warm, and he hadn't left him. This was very good. "What is your name being, little opposite boy?"

He flinched at the contact, but tried not to let it show. "Um, i-i-i-it's Raivis. I j-j-just said..."

"Ah, I am being sorry, da... I am not being good at remembering the names, da?" He tightened his grip on the hand slightly. "I am being Ivan Braginski. I am being new at the school, and I am hoping we can be friends, da."

Raivis nodded weakly, studying Ivan's expression. There was a definite childish and kind smile there. But he winced at the tight grip to his hand. "Ow..."

"You are being my friend, da? I would very much like being friends with little opposite boy Raivis," he insisted, his eyes intense, slightly urgent.

"I w-w-w-will." He said nervously, hoping that if he said this, the Russian would let go of his hand. He waited, shivering slightly.

Ivan smiled widely, and tugged on Raivis's arm gently. "Come and be sitting with me over here and we can be reading the book together, da."

He blinked, knowing the tugging would just get more and more incessant. At the moment, it was like he was about to be dragged over the table. He pulled away from Ivan's hand and walked around the table to sit down in the chair next to him.

He grabbed his hand again, squeezing it tighter than before, a gently smile on his face, as if he wasn't doing anything. "If it is being a children's book I am thinking I might be reading it okay, da?"

Raivis yelped slightly at the pressure on his hand, nodding weakly at the Russian boy. He didn't like the mild insult however, and put a peeved, pouting look on his face. How dare he say that! But he was too scared to say anything else.
