((OOC: For Peter, Valerie, and Raivis))
It was only a few weeks into the school year and Peter couldn't love Hogwarts more. He enjoyed the people, the classes, and the food, of course. He, Valerie and Raivis had hit it off and they had become really good friends.
But if there was anything he loved more than his classes and the food, it was the grounds at Hogwarts. He enjoyed sitting by the lake and talking to his friends, which was why he was, at the moment, near the lake's edge, waiting for his two friends to show up. Sure he had homework to do, but it that didn't matter.

Valerie was carrying her books to meet up with Peter. She knew Peter wouldn't study at all, and she supposed she'd have to hassle him into doing at least some work. Maybe she could tell him that even the best wizards in the world had to study. "Peter!" She spotted him by the lake, doing nothing as usual. She smiled and ran down towards him then slipped into a long slide that put grass stains all along her jeans.
"Hi!"

Peter grinned as he saw his friend arrive. "Hiya Val!" However, his joy didn't last long as he scrunched his face up in confusion. "What are those things doing in your hands?"

She shrugged, still smiling. "Unlike your awesome self, I need to study to be good at magic." She opened her transfiguration book and started reading. She mumbled the words to herself and intentionally used the wrong motion of the wand, trying to get Peter to correct her.

Peter watched Valerie for a few moments before shaking his head. "No no, you have to wave your wand like this." In order to show the Slytherin what to do, he grabbed his own wand from his pocket and waved it properly.

She watched carefully, then imitated the motion with exaggerated slowness. "Is this right then?" She kept her face open and curious, stuffing the glee of her success far inside herself.
Valerie couldn't help the pride that she was making the Slytherin's slyness work towards helping others, instead of hurting people like the house was known for. Slytherins can do good. I want to prove it, want later members to learn it.

"No no, you still need it a bit like this." He repeated the motion slightly slower for Valerie. He stepped back a bit and grinned at his work.

Valerie nodded, then repeated it perfectly. She nodded, satisfied, then repeated it again. "Thanks, I was wondering why it wasn't working in class."

Peter smiled, completely proud of his work. "There we go, it's perfect! And it's no problem! I love transfiguration, and is there anything else you need help with?"

Valerie bit her lip thoughtfully, then nodded. "Charms, it's the wand motions again, and I can't say the one he taught a week ago. And I can't remember the properties of the potions Mr. Bonnefoy was going over either..." She paused, looking at him pleadingly. She knew potions was one of Peter's worst subjects, and if she could get him to study it...

Now charms was something that he could help Valerie with, but potions. Oh god. On the other hand, his male pride was telling him that he couldn't seem inferior, especially when someone was asking him for help. "Well, I can help you with charms, and we can do potions later. Like...tomorrow or something." That'd give him a chance to look up the properties of potions or whatever it was.

Valerie beamed at him. She could tell that he'd study it. Success for the Slytherin! "Alright so..." She pulled out her charms book and opened it to one of the charms that had frustrated her excessively for real. "I can't do this one a'all. It's not the wand work, I already had Professor Williams double check it. So I know I'm sayin' it wrong somehow" She paused, mouthing it out, then shaking her head.
((We should pause it here and wait for Raivis, methinks))

((j'arrive, j'arrive! ;w; ))
Raivis walked quickly towards the water's edge, where he knew his two friends would be. He'd scribbled the last of his homework, put it in his trunk for safekeeping 'til tomorrow, and dashed off to meet them.
He couldn't wait to see them again. They were such nice people...
He let Zhurkas sit on top of his shoulder while he was walking, the rat swishing its tail to keep balance.
Raivis waved when he saw them, but found that his voice was dissolved in the wind. He tried again, taking a few steps closer. "Hello!"

As Peter was beginning to go over the first charm that Professor Williams was teaching them, he heard the telltale sign of a rather soft voice. He turned around and smiled. "Hey Raivis! I'm just helping Valerie learn some of the charms Professor Williams was teaching us."

Valerie turned towards Raivis too and waved. "Want to help?"

Raivis walked a little closer, to see what they were doing. "You're p-p-p-practicing charms?" He took one of his index fingers to his mouth and chewed it slightly, another nervous habit of his. He took it out after a moment and nodded. "Oh... okay!" He took out his wand, to join them, and blinked. "What k-k-kind of charms? If it's... s-s-suh-something like expeliarmus... or th-the bat bogey hex... I c-c-can't teach you tha...that." He showed a rare moment of toughness here, but was soon back to his old ways. "I wuh-won't."
He took a deep breath. "Lumos..." The tip of his wand began to glow with a white light, slightly difficult to see at first, but it grew in intensity. Although it was a spell a very young wizard would have learned at an early age, Raivis felt he should show off a little bit. He was proud that he'd finally learned how to say it right, after years of teasing that he couldn't do such a simple spell.
He dispelled it, smiling weakly at his two friends. "So wh-what spell do you need h-help with?"

Peter grinned at the site of his friend preforming a charm. "That's neat! I think Uncle Kilt-Crossdresser tried to teach me that once, but I didn't pay attention." He stood in an innocent awe of the spell before turning back to the textbook Valerie was still holding. "Uh, we're working on the levitation charm. She needs help with pronunciation."

Uncle Kilt Crossdresser? Latvia thought to himself. The headmaster sure had an... odd family. But Raivis couldn't say much - his family could be considered to be odd too.
He looked over towards Valerie's textbook, trying to read it. He nodded briefly. "T-take a deep breath before yuh...you say it. I can't p-p-p-pronounce spells w-w-w-well because of my stutter... and mah-my accent." He was clearly trying to convey that he wasn't the best person to ask, but he would be as helpful as he could be.

((oh crap I thought I replied to this yesterday))
Peter nodded and repeated the words of the spell, slowly and clearly this time. A small pebble nearby started floating before he cancelled the spell. "Cool! You should try, Valerie!" He grinned and tried the spell again, this time playing with the pebble as it floated around in the air. Magic was awesome.

Valerie nodded, pronouncing it carefully the way Peter had. The rock floated up, and she smiled. "Ta-da! I just needed to hear it said right." She turned a few pages and started reading about one of the charms Mr. Williams hadn't taught them yet, but said he would go over the next class.
